When working with us, you will notice how passionate we are about weddings. We feel that it is important to explain how we work and what to expect when working with us. We have worked with clients from a variety of backgrounds, cultures and faiths, including many unique mixes as well. Each wedding is as different as the couple celebrating their special day. This is just a guideline of what to expect.
Before Your Wedding
Firstly – Let’s Chat!
When you contact us, we often encourage you to put some time aside to meet-up or chat on Skype / FaceTime. We will go through the details of your day and show you some sample wedding albums. This discussion gives us an idea of how your day will unfold and also gives you a chance to think about what type package you would like.
We always tell couples that you have to hire a photographer that you get on with. They are the wedding vendor that spends the most time with you on your special day.
How to Book
So you like us? Great! Now time to shake on it! To book the date we require a non refundable booking fee of £300. If you book us for more than one event, the booking fee will be £300 per day. We will also send you a contract to sign. Once you send this back, we will sign it and send you a copy for your records.
We highly recommend adding an engagement shoot to your package. These photos are often taken during a fun day out and are a good way for us to get to know each other better. Couples like to sometimes incorporate these images into guest books, signing frames and invitations.
Pre Wedding Chat!
Around a month before your wedding we could do with catching up. We like to have a time schedule of what is happening on the day to try and stick to. If this has been discussed before, we could do with making sure it’s up to date. We understand that things do not always run on time, but it’s good to know what is happening ahead of time.
The full balance is to be settled one month before your wedding date. The last thing we would want to do is discuss finances during your honeymoon period!
The Wedding Day
The Big Day! – Morning Preparation
Ideally it is great if we can capture you getting ready. This is an important part of the day. The excitement, the nerves and the general preparations. Sonia is usually with the bride for the morning.
Simon will often head over to see what the groom is up to if it is nearby.. It is often more relaxed there. We’ve known grooms to be playing on the Playstation or having a drink!
If Simon has time he will capture images of the venue and details before guests arrive.
The formal part of the day. Whether you are having a religious ceremony or not, this is often the part that couples are nervous about. Just remember, everyone is there for you! So just try to relax. We will capture this from two different angles and aim to capture as much emotion as possible, from you and your guests.
It is important for you to double check with the official who is leading the service that it is okay for us to take photographs. Some let us photograph how we wish, others state specific areas that we can photograph from and some do not allow photography at all! This is obviously out of our control, so it is important for you to check well before the wedding date. We always try to have a chat with them before the ceremony, just to make them aware of who we are and ultimately to have them on our side!
We highly recommend keeping these to a minimum and informal, else it can be quite time consuming. If you are a couple that wish to have a large amount of group shots, we highly recommend getting one or two family members or friends to assist us in getting people together.
The Creative Part – The Couple Shoot
This is the part we love the most. A chance for us to get creative. We’ve actually found that couples really enjoy this as it’s the first bit of peace and quiet as husband and wife.
We try to get natural shots of you both, with minimal direction. Couples usually form their own chemistry, so it’s nice to have you together in a way that is natural for you and allows your personalities to shine through. We will give direction if that is what you would like.
Ideally visiting a couple of different settings in and around your venue, to get some variety. These shots are the ‘wow’ shots, that are great for an album cover. This is why we highly recommend making time for it in your day.
We would say that one hour is sufficient for this, but we can work with more or less time depending on how much you can spare.
Reception & Speeches
We will wander around and capture genuine moments during the reception of loved ones interacting with each other and you greeting your guests.
We understand that a lot of planning goes into the finer details of your day, so we will capture as much as we can to show all the hard work that you have put in.
We take subtle details of the meals, as no one likes a camera in front of their face whilst they are eating. Then we move to the sidelines in order to have a bit of a break and recharge.
It is not expected but we do welcome an invitation for food. It is a very long day for us, so being able to have a bit of time out with a proper meal allows us to work to the best of our ability.
During the speeches, we will often photograph from two different angles. If this isn’t running quite on time according to the schedule, we will check in with you to find out when you are planning on starting the speeches.
Wedding Evening, Cake & First Dance
As the evening begins, sometimes we recommend sneaking away for a quick sunset shoot.
This not only gives some beautiful shots, but it also gives you the chance to have a fresh entrance.
We then capture genuine candid moments whilst you mingle with your guests. Then it’s time to cut the cake and your first dance. Again, we capture these special moments from two angles.
Once guests are welcomed to join you on the dance floor, we try to get in the middle of the chaos and capture you all busting your moves. These images are always great fun.
We usually stay for about an hour after this, checking with you if there is anything else you wish for us to photograph and just to capture the fun times.
We then say our goodbyes, aiming to photograph one or two final shots, from a distance or outside, to finish the story of your day.
After Your Wedding
After the Wedding – Sneak Peak
We aim to try not to disturb you for a couple of weeks. Sometimes we get a bit excited and will message you one or two sneak peaks from your couple shoot. We then share these on our Facebook page and tag you to get your family and friends excited.
Within four months, to take into account busy periods, we will have completed the editing process of your images. You could receive anything from 350 images to 550. It varies as to how much is happening on your wedding day, obviously each wedding is so different. We do not take pleasure in withholding beautiful images from you, so we give you the best images that tell a story of your day.
First View – Slideshow
We usually present the images back to you as a fast moving slideshow to tasteful (royalty free) music. This slideshow is usually uploaded to Vimeo, so we will send you a link to watch it on.
Here is an example of a wedding slideshow that we have presented back to a bride and groom.
We then send you a link to an online gallery with watermarked, screen quality, images. This is for you to download images and for you to send to family and friends. Click the link below if you wish to see an example of an online gallery:
We will then post you the USB. This will have the slideshow and two folders, one contains watermarked, screen quality, images. The other has print quality. Although copyright always remains with the photographer, we give you print rights for personal use.
When posting the images online we kindly ask for you to upload them unaltered, so that it is the true artwork and to please credit us. Social media outreach is very important to us as a business.
If you wish to send any images to vendors, please ask them contact us directly.
We then share a blog post on our website talking about your day. We can also post a selection of images on Facebook in order for your family and friends to see / be tagged in, if you wish.
Album Process – Layout
If you have purchased an album and we know the details, we will ask you if there are any particular images you wish to include or do not wish to include.
Many couples get overwhelmed with choosing images for the album. We, therefore, see what works well as an album design from a professional perspective as a starting point. This layout will then be e-mailed to you for approval. You may have two revisions of the layout, beyond this it is an additional £50 per revision.
We usually state it takes around a month for the album design process, dependant on alterations.
If you wish for us to spend the afternoon together designing your album, you are more than welcome to join us whilst we design your layout.
Album Process – Album Cover
For the album cover, you are welcome to decide the details of this during a consultation, or we can send you digital variations as to what we think will suit your day, images, theme and/or wedding colours.
Before we send off your complete album order we require you to approve the album layout and design through e-mail, to ensure you have given us the go ahead for print in writing.
Once the order is made it is a two month turn around, as all albums are handmade in Italy.
Finally, here is a video that we filmed just for fun of one of our complete albums.
